Crowdsource Funding -- Kickstart Your Project (Maryellen Burns)

March 20, 2012 6:00 pm to 9 pm  CastleDab, 2014 23rd Street Sacramento $25

Crowdsource funding has been around for centuries -- friends, families and business associates pooling their money and resources together. What's different is the Internet. Now, individuals and organizations who need funding for a special project, business, or a creative project can seek support from people anywhere in the world. Discover the ins and outs of how to start a campaign, write a compelling narrative, create a memorable video, exciting premiums, and a plan for getting the word out.

Maryellen Burns has raised more than $15,000,000 for organizations and creative individuals over the last thirty years.  Recently, she helped individuals raise more than $18,000 using Kickstarter, Indiegogo and investigative journalism sites for writing conferences, books, overseas travel, and art exhibits. Contact her at: maryellen_burns@mac.com to RSVP.

Funding Your Dream Workshop

Funding Your Dream

Funding Your Dream is a resource designed for individual artists, writers, performers, film makers and other creative types to find the resources, money and volunteers you need to support your work.

First up is a series of workshops I'm holding in Sacramento, California.  Soon, I'll have a ton of resources and a regular newsletter that will be helpful to any creative artist or business  in the US, but with some very specific resources for California.  On-line will be articles, resources listing alternative funding ideas, grants, competitions, residencies, fellowships, scholarships, and much more.

The next series of Funding Your Dream starts on Friday October 15th and will go till mid-December.  Some of the material will be listed on this blog, but other resources will be available in a monthly newsletter.

Funding Your Dream --  Whatever field you’re in -- writing, music, theater, dance, television, radio, film or new media – you’ll learn techniques for how to plan a successful project, identify potential funding sources and investors, develop winning proposals, budgets, and marketing plans plus how to shamelessly promote yourself and your ideas. Maryellen Burns has raised more than 15 million dollars for museums, libraries, universities, school districts, theaters, literary & art festivals, documentaries, and individuals.

Six sessions.  Dare to Dream, StoryBoarding and Project Planning, Show Me the Money -- a guide to Crowd Source and other alternative funding, Writing Winning Proposals,  and Shameless Self-Promotion. One private session with Maryellen Burns, as well. October  15, 22, 29, November 5, 12, and 19. 1:00 to 3:00 pm. For those of you who can’t come all the way out to Fair Oaks, this program will be repeated in Midtown in January.  Can’t make all six sessions in a row?    All six will be repeated over two days in early December in both Fair Oaks and Midtown. For teens/adults. 7424 Winding Way, near San Juan Avenue in Fair Oaks and the CastleDab in Sacramento (exact address tba). $20 per session/$15 members

For more information contact: Maryellen Burns at 916-768-6077 or matrixarts@comcast.net.
